Southbank Centre brings you a quintessential #villagefair, celebrating the diverse and creative nature of urban ‘village’ life – people coming together to socialise and create. On Saturday 24th August 11am-1pm please support our Sarah who will be part of the panel discussion: “Craft Code Village: The craft community revival & the internet”
At The Clore Ballroom at Royal Festival Hall. Come and listen or join in the discussion. A morning of presentations from craft clubbers, bloggers and online groups who share a passion for creating fabulous handmade objects. Hear how they have created digital ‘villages’ with a strong ethos of open access, skill sharing and technique revival. Chaired by Rachel Coldicutt from Caper.
Contributors include: our own Sarah Corbett & friends Lauren O’Farrell of Stitch London, Momtaz Begum-Hossain of The Make Escape, & Chloe Burrow of The Merry Bobbins plus we are excited to meet and join Katie Harris of We are Nana & Kim Winter of Makerhood.
We will be there on both days with our stall at their Maker Market 11am-4pm at the Herb Garden at Riverside Terrace
Join some of our #craftivists alongside an eclectic mix of makers, craft clubbers and bloggers display their products and skills. The line-up includes: London Knaughty Knitters, NannaMade, GranMade, Crafternoon Cabaret Club, Makerhood, The Making Home, Papermash, craftingfingers and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme, plus others.
There will also be a virtual stall featuring
PLUS if you need any more convincing to come along (!), you can also take part in traditional games such as hoopla and ‘hook the duck’ or take a ride in the helter-skelter. Catch Southbank Centre’s dog show and visit the display of owls and falconry birds. Enjoy brass bands and traditional folk music played by local handbell ringers, and join us for a ‘strip the willow’ dance at our Saturday evening ceilidh. You know us craftsters love an excuse to party so come join us!:)
